The Sri Lanka ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is an official document that allows foreign travelers to enter and stay in Sri Lanka for a short period without needing a traditional visa stamped in their passport.
It is issued electronically and linked to your passport, making it easy and fast to get online before your trip.
There are two main types of ETAs available:
Tourist ETA
Validity: 180 days from the date of issue
Entries: Double entry
Maximum Stay: 30 days per visit
Purpose: Tourism only
Business ETA
Validity: 30 days from the date of issue
Entries: Multiple entry
Maximum Stay: 30 days per visit
Purpose: Business-related activities only
The Tourist ETA cannot be used for business, employment, or study purposes.
Sri Lanka ETA requiremetns
To apply for your Sri Lanka ETA, you’ll need:
A scanned copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Your travel details, including:
Intended arrival date
Airline and flight number
Port of departure
A valid email address and phone number
Your address in Sri Lanka
Proof of travel history for the past 14 days

Who needs Sri Lanka ETA?
Sri Lanka ETA is required for travelers from all countries, except the following:
China
India
Russia
Japan
Thailand
Malaysia
Indonesia
If you're not from one of these countries, you’ll need to apply for a Sri Lanka ETA before arriving in the country.
