What is UK Fiance Visa

A UK Fiance Visa allows you to come to the United Kingdom to marry or enter a civil partnership with your partner who is a British citizen, Irish citizen, or settled in the UK (holding ILR or Settled Status).

You must get married within 6 months of arriving in the UK. After your marriage, you can switch to a UK Spouse Visa, which allows you to live and work in the country long-term.

  • Be 18 or older (both partners)

  • Have met in person

  • Be in a genuine and lasting relationship

  • Plan to marry within 6 months of arrival

  • Intend to live together permanently in the UK

  • Have a sponsoring partner who is British, Irish, or settled

  • Meet the financial requirement of at least £29,000 per year

  • Prove your English language ability at A1 level (rising to B1 level from January 2026).

  • Have adequate accommodation for both of you (and any children)
